This is the virtual CARS newsletter for all members. Having this publication electronically generated saves on printing costs for meetings and enables much more rapid communications to the members. EMAIL blast messages will still be used, this is a supplement to that method of communication.

CARS Newsletter & Current Events
(11/24/2014) Fellow Amateurs and members, once again we've dodged a bullet with the 2014 hurricane season drawing to a close with only minimal impact to Brevard County. As you know however, the 2015 hurricane season is just around the corner. We encourage you to review your personal preparedness plans, your GO-KIT status for consumables (batteries, water, any expired or medicine items that need to be renewed, etc...), and your radio accessories to support field deployment. Also please insure your loved ones are taken care of before you commit to field duty. You can't effectively communicate with your mind dwelling on things at home and your body at a shelter! Also, please make sure your latest contact information is up to date with our secretary in case we need you in preparation for activation in emergency!
As you are aware, our primary support mission during emergencies is to staff and support the ARES EOC at 1150 West King Street, as well as the EBS-1 communications support vehicle.
(10/31/2014) I've had a question about how to pay dues for those members who cannot attend a business meeting. The 2015 dues are $10.00, payable by Check or Money Order to the following: "Cocoa Amateur Radio Society". Please mail your Check or Money Order to "CARS, 1150 West King Street, Cocoa, Florida 32922". For members that are late in paying club dues, we will keep you on the EMAIL list and membership roster until April 1, 2015. After that date you will be removed from active member status. And yes, the treasurer gladly accepts cash at the meetings as well!
Hello CARS members!
This is your reminder about our upcoming December business meeting and annual club Christmas party. The meeting/party is December 1, starting at 6:00 PM (not 7:00 PM) at 1150 West King Street, Cocoa. The menu will be steaks & veggies & salad & dessert/drinks for the Christmas dinner. As decided in the November meeting, the cost per member for the Christmas dinner is $10.00 per person eating, payable to the Treasurer prior to your meal. The club will pass monies received to N4LEM to assist with his expenses in preparation.
A few things we need. 1) We need a count of how many people will attend so we know how much food to order/obtain. Please RSVP your attendance to me via return EMAIL ("firstname.lastname@example.org") with a count of how many people will be eating. 2) Assistance in setup for the dinner would be appreciated. If you can come early to help set-up, please let Curtis know ("email@example.com"). 3) Normal club business, except for the installation of new officers will be deferred until the January business meeting.
It's been my honor to serve the club as President for the past year, Thank you for your support, effort, and assistance in furthering both the Amateur Radio hobby and CARS during this time of club reorganization. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday evening.
(11/28/2014) Hi CARS members! I've finally got the old agendas & meeting minutes posted (at least what I have digitally). There is a new section called "Document Archive" off the main menu. Go check it out! Eric, KK4JOK
